The Library
Do you ever think much about heaven? A couple of years ago I lost a cousin to Breast Cancer and it
got me to thinking more often about heaven. My cousin, just a year my senior, left behind 4 children
of her own. We grew up together and we were fortunate to have a close adult relationship, too. When
she got sick I prayed for her healing. She prayed for her healing - everyone we knew was praying
for her healing. One day she said to me, "I know God will heal me. I don't know whether it will
be here or in heaven, but he will heal me!" I've often thought about how big her faith was and
how some days mine seems so small.
A few months ago I bought a book for myself entitled "Heaven is for Real" by Todd Burpos. This is a
story of Todd's son Colton's trip to heaven and back. I liked it so much I decided to get a copy for
the library, too! And guess what? I'd say "as luck would have it" but since I don't believe in that,
I'll tell you it was a "God Thing", because someone anonymously donated a copy of "Heaven is for Real for Kids"
by Todd & Sonja Burpo. Written just for kids, this version has snippets of Colton's journey and is full of
delightful pictures. Both these books remind us that heaven is for real, just like the Bible tells us.
I hope you enjoy these new additions to the library and pray that they will spark you to read more about Jesus
and heaven in your own Bible.
